Hammered patinated copper earrings, based on the battle mirror found buried with the Warrior Queen, connecting us to our strong female ancestors...
A discovered body of a Warrior Queen, on Bryher in the Isles of Scilly was the inspiration behind this collection of Iron age style copper jewellery. When the body was discovered in 1999 it was assumed it had been an important male ruler, as it had been buried with a sword, and mirror (used in battle) and high status, meaningful jewellery. It was only 24 years later when they tested the teeth of the body that they realised she was a woman.
At the widest point the earrings are around 30mm diameter, and patinated to look ancient, like they've just been dug up. The wires are made from recycled sterling silver.
All my jewellery is carefully sent to you via Royal mail in recycled and recyclable packaging
