Hammered copper cuff, based on Iron age Celtic jewellery: a statement piece based on Bryher's coastline, connecting us to our strong female ancestors...
A discovered body of a Warrior Queen, on Bryher in the Isles of Scilly was the inspiration behind this collection of Iron age style copper jewellery. When the body was discovered in 1999 it was assumed it had been an important male ruler, as it had been buried with a sword, and mirror (used in battle) and high status, meaningful jewellery. It was only 24 years later when they tested the teeth of the body that they realised she was a woman.
At it's widest point, the cuff is 70mm wide, and patinated to look ancient, like it's just been dug up.
