Beautiful jewellery handmade in Cornwall

Green Policy

We try to run our business in an environmentally aware way: we're doing our best to make small changes in our everyday running of things, but we are quite prepared to make more changes if you have any suggestions at all.

our products

The basis of our company is making jewellery from mostly recycled or sustainable materials such as:

  • sea-glass: beautiful and opaque in soft aquamarine colours
  • beach plastic: bright abstract shapes, cleared off the beach
  • sea-string: crazy bright string found on local beaches, we use for crocheting
  • small bits of weathered driftwood
  • little slate pebbles and shells
  • green twigs from our garden and local woodland
  • vintage brooches from 20th Century
  • antique crystals and pearls, pulled apart for more mileage
  • old gold and silver chains, broken earrings, mishapen rings
  • vintage lace and flowers
  • any quirky little things we can find!

We buy wire, some findings and some chains: but try to re-use old things we have or can get wherever possible. The courses I teach show students how to make jewellery themselves from things they already have or from recycleable materials they can get hold of.

our packaging

We do re-use boxes, padded envelopes and bubble wrap so please understand if your jewellery arrives looking a bit wrinkled on the outside. Seems the quickest, most efficient way of recycling all the packaging we receive. The gift boxes we use are 100% recycled and I even make my own from nice cards, when I get chance!

I try to cut down on using the car by walking to the post office and going to appointments with galleries and shops on the train. We recycle any rubbish we can't re-use oursleves through the council recyling scheme.

our office

We're nearly paper-less!

  • we don't print out emails,
  • we prefer payments by card or bank transfer,
  • we're happy to invoice via email
  • we send emails rather than letters
  • we recycle any unwanted IT equipment through local recycling networks

We try to cut down energy consumption by working together in the same room and only powering up computers/equipment when they're needed.

These are the ways we can think of to make small changes to help the environment,; please do let us know if you can think of any more, we'd love to hear from you: sarah@sarahdrew.com.
